UZIN UTZ Netherlands has translated its sustainability vision into a practical approach to modern building and production methods. During construction, sustainability was meticulously taken into account. For instance, there is no gas connection, ensuring that products made in the Green Factory are produced in a fully carbon-neutral manner.
Sustainable production does not have to be complex or expensive! Significant reductions in water, energy, and resource consumption can be achieved with common sense and well-thought-out measures. UZIN UTZ Netherlands has demonstrated this through the GPR Building assessment. The factory, inaugurated by Queen Máxima in 2014, has received a sustainability performance rating of 8.66!
Everything under one roof: Transparent, Clean, and Safe
UZIN UTZ Netherlands has consciously chosen a sustainable, natural and energy-efficient building. The building, which has an A energy label and is BREEAM-NL In-Use certified, promotes transparency and better communication among employees with its extensive use of glass.
The energy required for heating the premises and the production process is primarily sourced from the Earth's natural geothermal energy. Additional energy needs are generated through pallet stoves, allowing UZIN UTZ Netherlands to operate fully carbon-neutral.
UZIN UTZ Netherlands boasts an intelligent building with sensor-controlled air quality, lighting, and temperature. The working conditions are optimal, and the windows can be opened.
The green sedum roof blends seamlessly with the surroundings and provides thermal, sound, and cold insulation. Additionally, the moss on the roof binds CO2 and filters fine particles from the air.
Rainwater is collected from the roof and used to irrigate the garden, contributing to water conservation. Moreover, the green roof enhances biodiversity by increasing the variety of plant and animal species.
